Background: FATP5
FATP5, also known as BACS, VLACSR and SLC27A5, is a 75 kDa endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein that is expressed in hepatocytes. FATP5 is required for the conjugation of bile acids to CoA and for the uptake of long chain fatty acids into the liver. Human FATP5 shares 71% and 66% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat FATP5, respectively.
