Data Examples
Western Blot | Detection of Nicotinamide N‑Methyltransferase/NNMT by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of human kidney tissue, human lung tissue, A549 human lung carcinoma cell line, and 786‑O human renal cell adenocarcinoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 2 µg/mL of Mouse Anti-Human Nicotinamide N‑Methyltransferase/NNMT Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB7736) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # ). A specific band was detected for Nicotinamide N‑Methyltransferase/NNMT at approximately 26 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using . |

Background: Nicotinamide N-Methyltransferase/NNMT
Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) is a 264 aminoacids enzyme that catalyzes the N-methylation of nicotinamide and other pyridines to form pyridinium ions. This activity is important for biotransformation of many drugs and xenobiotic compounds. NNMT is found in human fat cells and the liver. Significant up-regulation of NNMT was found pathologies like Parkinson's disease, cancer, atherosclerosis, and liver diseases.
