Background: GDF-1
Mouse GDF-1 Propeptide is a 26 kDa, secreted monomeric glycopeptide. It is synthesized as part of a 357 amino acid (aa) preprocursor that contains a 23 aa signal sequence, a 214 aa Propeptide and a 120 aa mature molecule. Following secretion, the proregion is presumably proteolytically cleaved from the mature molecule at an Arg-Arg dibasic residue motif. The amino acid sequence of mouse GDF-1 Propeptide is 65% and 78% identical to that of human and rat GDF-1 Propeptide, respectively.
