BR-UL-WCS Wiring Compartment Securement Tester
Implementation of standards: UL 1703-2008

The tensile force required to separate a wiring compartment or box from a module shall not be less than 155.7N or 4 times the wiring compartment or box weight, whichever is greater, when tested as specified in following. For a test in which the superstrate or substrate fails prior to the adhesive, the force required to cause the superstrate or substrate to fail shall be used to determine compliance, and shall not be less than the specified minimum separation force.
 
Seven assemblies consisting of a wiring compartment or box secured to a module with adhesive as intended are to be tested. One assembly is to be tested in the as-received condition, three after being conditioned in accordance with temperature cycling test, section 35, and three after conditioning in accordance with humidity test, section 36.
 
The force is to be applied to each assembly so as to separate the wiring compartment or box from the module. The force is to be applied until the wiring compartment or box and the module separates; or the superstrate or substrate fails.
 
Disabling the Charge Controller Internal PVGFP Circuit
To install the charge controller in a system where an external negative-ground bond is to be maintained, the unit’s internal PVGFP circuit must be disabled. To disable the charge controller PVGFP circuit, remove the small jumper connector located on the circuit board within the wiring compartment of the unit. See Figure 1 and Figure 2 for the jumper location of both CE-marked and non-CE versions of the XW MPPT60-150.

Warning: Shock Hazard
Disconnect PV and battery circuits before accessing the charge controller wiring compartment.
 
Disabling the PVGFP circuit in this way opens the negative-to-ground bond within the unit so that a single negative-ground connection can be made elsewhere in the system, either at the battery terminal, or through an external PVGFP circuit connected to the PV wiring.
 
Removing the Wiring Compartment Cover
Before mounting, remove the wiring compartment cover to access the mounting holes and the wiring terminals. The wiring compartment cover is secured with two Phillips #8-32 × 2 ½-inch (63.5 mm) screws on the front cover of the unit. See figure 1.
